About Kathy Lynn Goldbach
A southern girl at heart, Kathy Lynn Goldbach was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but readily adopted Columbia, South Carolina as home in 1986. She also lived in Cockermouth, England, where she fell in love with the rugged yet gentle landscape of northern England's Lake District and for a short while in New Hampshire. Currently she resides in both South Carolina and England.
Kathy Lynn sees the world as a canvas and the canvas as her world. She works primarily in oils and her style has been described as calm, mystic, soft, deep, gentle and intriguing. Her work casually captures its viewer.
For me painting is a delicate balance between concept and spirit. Initially I visualize how I want the piece to look paying particular attention to composition and color. But, then I break away from the constraints of that visualization and allow my spirit and instincts to take over, that is when the magic happens. My goal with each piece is to create an atmosphere which gently pulls the viewer in; freeing the mind, allowing it to wonder and wander. Every painting tells a story but those stories are as personal and different as the viewers' own memories, dreams and experiences.
Kathy Lynn is a mostly self-educated-award-winning artist who has received a variety of honors. Most recently, in 2012, her work was chosen to hang among the South Carolina State Fair's permanent collection, and in 2013, she was selected by Twin Cities, Minnesota exploring TOSCA magazine as South Carolina Artist of the Year.
